Tiny Tatted Angel Tutorial

Finished angel.
Abbreviations used:
p = pico
ds = doublestitch
sep = separated
CLR = Close ring
Ch = chain
|
Beginners: You will need tatting thread size 30, a shuttle, a pin to pick out mistakes, a crochet hook to pull picos thru (unless you're using a shuttle with a hook on the end) and a small scissor.
|
Beginning:
Large ring for the body of the angel. 2 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 5 ds, 4 p sep by 2 ds, 5 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 2 ds, CLR.
Now hold the body ring securely and begin the ring for the head: 5 ds, 7 p sep by 3 ds, 5 ds, CLR.
Beginners can now cut the threads and weave them thru the head and body and tie them securely to keep the head nice and upright. Veteran tatters can simply slip stitch the head and body and then slip stitch to the first p on the body.
|

Beginners tie shuttle and ball thread together and attach both to the first p on the body. We will now tat the wing:
3 ds, 7 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join to the second p on the body.
Now ch 5 ds, join to the next p on the body. *Ch 5 ds and join to the next p* continue the instruction between the * until you have a total of 5 chains. You should have just 2 p left n the body. These are for the other wing. This wind is tatted exactly the same as the first wing: 3 ds, 7 p sep by 3 ds, 3 ds, join the last p on body. Tie and cut threads.
|

We will now work on the skirt:
Tie shuttle and ball thread together. Make a small ring of 6 ds and join in the p after the first chain 5 (look at the image) 6 ds and CLR. *Turn (turn means to turn your work completely upside down. The body of the angel will be completely upside down. Now chain 3 ds, p 3 ds, turn*( the work right side up now and make another small ring. 6 ds, join between next two chains on the body, 6 ds, CLR. Turn and complete the instructions between the * for a total of 4 small rings.
Turn your work now and continue for the next round on the skirt:
*Ch 8 ds, 4 p sep by 2 ds, 8 ds, join between the next two chains on the skirt.* You should now have three of these chains. Turn and continue on for the last round on the skirt:
*Ch 15 ds, 5 p sep by 2 ds, 15 ds, join between next two chains on skirt. * Continue for three of these chains. Tie and cut threads and you're finished!
